Atharva

Atharva is a student at a prominent university in one of the northern Sydney suburbs. He arrived in Australia earlier this year. Atharve joined us a few months ago with the objective of learning to be a safe driver in Australia, and secure his full Australian license in the process. He was kindly referred to us by our previous learners Ashwini and Aditi.

Atharva has driven in India, but being in a new place, he was keen to ensure that he did things the right way. He decided to take professional help with learning to drive in Australia and secure his license. A driving license would give him more flexibility in life and also enable him to find more suitable jobs to keep his bills paid while pursuing his studies.

Atharva started off as a very nervous learner driver. He was overly cautious and courteous to begin with. While he had absolutely the kindest intentions at heart, we prioritised working on balancing it with the road rules and safe driving practices. We also spent time on his manouvres. The fact that he had good control on the vehicle and was great at speed management meant that we could specifically work on his weak areas and improve them.

In about 3 classes, Atharva started displaying significant progress. He got increasingly confident, started scanning, identifying and reacting to potential hazards extremely well. While he continued to doubt himself, we had full faith in his ability and we were very sure that he would succeed with flying colours in his driving test.

And he proved us right! On his first attempt on the challenging roads in Hornsby, he scored an emphatic 98% score with just a minor positioning error and an observation check miss. We could not have been more proud!

Atharva is now a step closer to being independent. He has opened for himself the massive door of opportunity to earn and pay his bills, while also being able to be flexible and drive around at will. We wish to take this opportunity to congratulate Atharva, and also wish him many safe drives going forward!
