Suraj

Originally from Nepal, Suraj moved to Australia with his family in late 2022 as an international student. Today, he works as a chef at a popular restaurant in Gordon while balancing the demands of work, study and family life.

This journey has not always been easy. With a busy work schedule and family responsibilities, Suraj had very little time to spare. Relying on public transport for his daily commute added another layer of difficulty, making the freedom and flexibility of driving especially important to him.

Before moving to Australia, Suraj spent several years in the Middle East, where he gained considerable driving experience and was comfortable driving independently.

Unfortunately, after misplacing his overseas driver licence, he was required to complete the NSW licensing process and obtain his provisional licence before eventually progressing towards a full Australian licence.

Although his previous driving experience gave him a strong foundation, adapting to Australian road rules, test requirements and driving expectations proved more challenging than anticipated. After narrowly missing out on passing the driving test on a few earlier attempts, Suraj remained determined.

He also chose not to change his test location in search of an easier route. Suraj believed that if he was going to drive regularly in the area where he lived, he should demonstrate that he could confidently and safely navigate its roads.

That determination made his eventual success even more rewarding. Before his test, we completed a couple of hours of focused mock-test preparation, working through the areas that required attention and helping him approach the assessment with greater confidence. Suraj entered the test calm, composed and well-prepared—and emerged with a well-deserved pass and a big smile!

Suraj is now a proud Australian Red P-plater, ready to enjoy greater independence and flexibility in his everyday life. This achievement marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter, and we are immensely proud to have supported him throughout his journey.

Congratulations, Suraj, on this wonderful achievement! We wish you many years of safe, confident and enjoyable driving ahead.
